An East Bladen High School student-athlete has been nominated for a prestigious honor.

Melissa Macon is a finalist for the inaugural U.S. Army-Pro Football Hall of Fame Award for Excellence. The program seeks to highlight the nation’s top sophomore and junior high school athletes who exemplify similar strengths to Army Strong Soldiers, and who not only excel athletically but also academically as well being active in their respective communities.

The award will be presented on Friday, January 4, 2013, during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Awards Dinner in San Antonio, Texas.
