On this day in history in the NCHSAA, the Wachovia Cup champions for the 1997-98 academic year are honored at the 14th annual North Carolina High School Athletic Association Day at Kenan Stadium, during which North Carolina played Pittsburgh. Hendersonville, High Point Central, T.C. Roberson and Raleigh Leesville Road received the Cups. It was Hendersonville’s eighth Cup overall.
