On this day in NCHAA history, Eugene Godsoe of Southeast Guilford was chosen as the Most Outstanding Swimmer in the NCHSAA 3-A swimming and diving championships at the Willis Casey Aquatic Center in Raleigh. Godson broke his own state 3-A records in both the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke winning each event for the fourth consecutive year.
