This Day In NCHSAA History

     On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Jessie Sims of West Henderson and Terrell Hudgins of Rocky Mount received the Pat Best Memorial Awards as the NCHSAA Athletes of the Year for the 2004-05 academic year. Sims was a star at West Henderson in volleyball, swimming and track, earning Most Valuable Player honors in the NCHSAA state 2-A volleyball championship as West posted a perfect 36-0. Hudgins was the Big East Conference Player of the Year in both football and basketball, averaging 20.6 points per game and grabbing 12.0 rebounds as a senior.
