            On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Lexi Davis of Porter Ridge High School in Indian Trail was named the ESPNHS National Softball Player of the Year.  Davis was 33-1 as a pitcher for Porter Ridge and led her team to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 4-A softball championship in June.
