CONCORD—Standout running back Rocky Reid of Concord had one of the top seasons in North Carolina High School Athletic Association football history in 2013 and earned a number of listings in the NCHSAA Record Book as a result.
Reid, who helped Concord get to the NCHSAA state 3-A championship game where the Spiders fell to defending champion Havelock 21-13, finished the season with a whopping 3,355 yards rushing, the seventh best total in NCHSAA history.
He is the second back ever to compile 16 100-yard rushing games in a season, with Kevin Parks of West Rowan in 2008 the only other runner to achieve that milestone.
Reid’s 432 rushing attempts in a single season is the second highest total ever, and his total of 39 rushing touchdowns in a single season is puts him in the top ten in that performance listing category.
Our thanks to Concord High School for providing the appropriate documentation for the listings.
