ASHEVILLE– David Ball has received a tremendous recognition, according to a report in the Asheville Citizen-Times.
The Clyde Erwin High School community celebrated together earlier this week with a special ceremony dedicating the newly named David A. Ball Gymnasium on the Erwin campus.
Ball has spent his entire 36-year career at the Buncombe county school as a teacher, coach and administrator. He is well known across the state for his work in the North Carolina Athletic Directors Association, including a term as president of the NCADA in 2011-12.
He has also served a stint representing that organization on the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Board of Directors.
The Erwin athletic director is a 1975 graduate of the school and a 1979 graduate of Western Carolina University. He was head baseball coach at the school for 19 years and also worked as an NCHSAA baseball umpire for 14 years, being assigned to five regional championships and two state championship series.
David is retiring from school work on June 1.
Congratulations to David Ball!
