BEAR CREEK—Chatham Central High School pitchers Chase Fuquay and Zack Burke turned in phenomenal performances in a big doubleheader sweep by the Bears of Yadkin Valley Conference East foe South Davidson recently.
Chatham Central won both ends of the twin bill on Monday of last week by scores of 8-0 and 4-0, but the manner in which it was accomplished was interesting. Fuquay went the distance on the mound in game one, allowing just one hit while striking out 18 without walking a batter.
Burke then followed with a seven-inning no hitter, fanning 12 and walking two. The Bears allowed only three base runners in the two games.
