Charlotte Catholic Coach Oddo Announces Retirement

CHARLOTTE—One of the great football coaches in the history of North Carolina has announced his retirement.

Jim Oddo of Charlotte Catholic High School will be stepping down, according to information on the Charlotte Catholic Twitter account and then media reports which followed, such as in the Charlotte Observer.

Oddo’s career began at Catholic back in 1973 and was the NCHSAA’s winningest active coach when he retired.  His career mark as a head coach was 358-145-2. He guided the Cougars to three NCSHAA championships, in 1977, 2004 and ’05.

Last year Catholic made it to the 4-A regional final after playing for the 3-AA state championship in 2013.
