In this day in NCHSAA, Chris Leak of Charlotte Independence’s threw for an amazing 585 yards and eight touchdowns against North Mecklenburg en route to a 77-6 victory. Both marks rank near the top of NCHSAA single-game performances as well as among the national all-time elite performances.

October 18, 1963

On this day in history in the NCHSAA, South Stanly accumulated an astronomical 827 yards of total offense, including 731 rushing yards in an 87-27 victory over Anson.

The mark for total yards ranks tops in NCHSAA history and ranks in the top-five all-time nationally. The rushing total is good for second all-time and ranks among the national elite. The two teams combined for 1,254 yards of total offense (827, 427), also an NCHSAA record.

October 18, 1955

On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Stanly’s Charlie Handsel scored 47 points in a single football game versus Cherryville. Handsel found the end zone seven times and scored five extra points.
