Celebrating 100 Years: This Day In NCHSAA History

March 18, 1995

On this day in history in the NCHSAA, in a game that saw 25 lead changes, Hickory outlasted Southwest Edgecombe 67-63 in overtime in one of the most exciting championship games in NCHSAA women’s basketball history as Hickory took the 3-A title at Carmichael Auditorium in Chapel Hill. Datishella Byrd poured in 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the winners.

On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Shea Ralph of Fayetteville Terry Sanford poured in 52 points but it wasn’t enough as Roxboro Person beat Terry Sanford 95-77 in the semifinals of the Eastern Regional women’s basketball tournament.
