FAYETTEVILLE—Cape Fear High School’s Haley Cashwell has put together an unbelievable hot streak on the softball field.
She went about three weeks getting a hit in every official at-bat that she had, hitting safely in 22 consecutive at-bats.
Her streak began on March 16 and was finally halted in a game on April 9, covering seven contests.
Her hits in 22 consecutive at-bats is a new North Carolina High School Athletic Association state record. The previous record was 16, set by East Burke’s Taylor Burkhalter during a five-game stretch in March and April of 2014.
Our thanks to the Fayetteville Observer, which began to track the streak.
There are now six players in NCHSAA history who have recorded and documented streaks of hitting safely in 10 or more consecutive at-bats.
