FAYETTEVILLE– A Cape Fear High School softball player has vaulted to the top of a North Carolina High School Athletic Association record listing, according to a report by the Fayetteville Observer.
Haley Cashwell, who is only a freshman, continues her torrid streak at the plate and now has hit safely in 21 consecutive at bats to the plate over six games, which is the new state record for hits in consecutive at bats in softball.
The previous record was 16, set by Taylor Burkhalter of East Burke during a five-game stretch in March and into April in 2012.
Cashwell is currently batting an unbelievable .824.
