Over a career spanning decades, Spivey built powerhouse programs, guided his teams to numerous state championships, and left a lasting mark on student-athletes and the sport across the state.

2025 Women’s Individual Tennis Championships
On October 24–25, 2025, the NCHSAA held its Women’s Individual Tennis State Championships at Cary Tennis Park, Burlington Tennis Center, the Tennis Complex at Holly Springs, and Millbrook Exchange.
