Big John Isner, Former NCHSAA Champion, Wins Tournament

BIG JOHN ISNER WINS TOURNAMENT

        ATLANTA—A former North Carolina High School Athletic Association state tennis champion has added another professional tournament victory to his resume.

        Big John Isner, the 6-10 former University of Georgia star who also was a standout at Greensboro Page, beat Kevin Anderson of South Africa to win the Atlanta Open on Sunday by 6-7(3), 7-6(2), 7-6(2).  The match lasted two hours and 54 minutes.

        Isner lost in the finals of the Atlanta tournament in both 2010 and 2011 and fell to Andy Roddick in the semifinals of the tournament a year ago.

        Isner was the 2001 NCHSAA state 4-A singles champion.

        He earned $98.700 for the victory and will assuredly move up in the world rankings, as he is currently 22nd
