CLAYTON—Randy Pinkowski, who has been the head football coach at Charles B. Aycock High School in Wayne County, is moving to Clayton.
Pinkowski, who started his coaching career at Clayton as an assistant under veteran head coach Gary Fowler, is the new head coach of the Comets, according to various media reports.
Pinkowski served as a teacher and assistant coach at Clayton from 1985 through ’96. Then after a brief stint as an assistant at Eastern Wayne, Pinkowski became head coach at Aycock and helped turn the program around.
He has been an assistant coach for the East team in the North Carolina Coaches Association all-star football game, working in the 2011 contest.
