ALEXANDER CENTRAL PITCHER IN RECORD BOOK
Chelsea Wilkinson of Alexander Central has finished her storied softball career with a number of state records and performance listings in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association record book.
Wilkinson notched 112 victories during her four-year pitching career for the Cougars, which is the top mark in NCHSAA history and surpasses Crystal Cox of Central Cabarrus, who chalked up 106 during her career from 1999 to 2002. She also had an amazing 83 shutouts during her career, including 20 this season.
Wilkinson is the first player with the documented performance of three consecutive perfect games, which she pulled off in wins over Hibriten (April 27), High Point Christian (April 30) and South Caldwell (May 3). She had 16 perfect games for her career, second all-time behind Cox.
Chelsea is also second on the all-time strikeout list with a whopping 1,396 and fourth all-time in innings pitched. Her 0.48 earned run average for her career is tied for sixth on the all-time list in that category.
Congratulations to Chelsea Wilkinson and we appreciate head coach Monte Sherrill of Alexander Central documenting these accomplishments.
