The NFHS School Honor Roll Program recognizes schools that have their coaches complete professional development through NFHS Learning Center coursework.

In the 2021-2022 academic year the following schools have earned NFHS Honor Roll status


Level 1

More than 90% of coaches have completed the core course  “Fundamentals of Coaching” along with three of the Learning Center’s most significant courses – “Concussion in Sports,” “Sudden Cardiac Arrest” and “Protecting Students from Abuse.”

CHAPEL HILL – The North Carolina High School Athletic Association, in conjunction with Wells Fargo, released the final standings in the 42nd annual Wells Fargo Cup competitions for the 2020-2021 academic year. The award recognizes the high schools that achieve the best overall interscholastic athletic performance within each of the state’s four competitive classifications.

Currently, there are no plans to create a detailed adjusted guidelines document, such as last year’s modified sports manual.

CHAPEL HILL – In a year like none before, high school athletics managed to complete regular seasons and award conference championships, providing student-athletes across the state valuable opportunities to compete, grow and learn in an education-based setting. There were numerous schools that excelled across many sports in their conference competitions, and they have won the Wells Fargo Conference Cup award for their respective conferences.

Indianapolis, Indiana - Rob Cuff, executive director of the Utah High School Activities Association (USHAA), is the new president of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) for 2021-22. Cuff, the 62nd president of the NFHS, began his one-year term on July 2 following the NFHS Summer Meeting, which was held this year in Orlando, Florida.

NCHSAA Hall of Fame Class of 2012 member, Larry Rhodes, passed away this week. Rhodes was an outstanding coach at a couple of Gaston County schools in a couple of different sports. A graduate of High Point Central and then East Carolina University, Rhodes coached from 1956 through 1970 at Frank Ashley High in Gastonia and then the next 20 years at Gastonia Ashbrook. During his tenure as a men's varsity head basketball coach, Rhodes rolled up 336 victories to 174 losses, winning 10 conference championships and capturing the 1967 NCHSAA state 4-A basketball title.

CHAPEL HILL, NC - Lowe's Home Improvement, specifically the Lowe's 4 Pros Division, in conjunction with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA), has selected Jacob Harrell from Gates County High School, David Ray from John A. Holmes High School, and Cassidy Rouse from Jones Senior High School as the recipients of the Lowe's Campus Captain award for June.

FAYETTEVILLE – It took a little longer than expected but returning to Fayetteville for Sunday’s Game 2 after rain pushed the schedule back proved worth the trip for J.H. Rose. The Rampants pushed past Cox Mill 9-4 in Game 2 of the series to earn a sweep and the program’s sixth Baseball State Championship. The victory gave the Rampants their first title since 2008.
