East Bladen Women’s Basketball Head Coach and Athletic Director, Patty Evers, has been selected to serve as one of the two head coaches in the 2022 edition of the annual McDonald’s All American Game in Chicago on March 29th, 2022. Her selection makes her the first coach from an NCHSAA school - or any school in the Tar Heel state - to serve as a head coach in the prestigious event.

Sunday night our seeding committee made up of active coaches and wrestling leaders from across the state met for over four hours to work on creating brackets for the upcoming NCHSAA Women's Invitational Championships. The committee acted in good faith, applying consistent standards to seeding in each weight division, and working within the parameters we were given, with regard to 16 person brackets.

The Class of 2021 features four outstanding coaches – Susan “Susie” DeWeese from Asheville, Jonathan McKee of Greensboro who is being inducted posthumously, Charlie Spivey from Sanford, and Bob Vroom of Hubert, NC and Swansboro High.
CHAPEL HILL, NC – The North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) Board of Directors has voted to postpone the first and second rounds of the 2022 Dual Team Wrestling Tournament due to multiple inclement weather situations across the state over the past several weeks. The decision to postpone the first and second rounds will allow for schools and students to complete as much of the wrestling regular season as possible without exceeding weekly limitations for individuals or teams.

RALEIGH, NC – The NCHSAA Cheerleading Invitational returned to its usual home, the Raleigh Convention Center, after a year away due to COVID, with 132 registered routines and a brand-new trophy to present. In addition to the Carolina Cup, the award for the Varsity squad regardless of division posting the highest rated performance in the traditional competition, this year the “Game Day Division” presented the inaugural Tarheel Trophy to the highest rated varsity squad regardless of division in the event.
As you are aware, the NCHSAA Board of Directors has been hard at work conducting the business of the Association, completing the Winter Meeting yesterday. Board members engaged in lengthy discussions about the Association’s ongoing talks with the State Board of Education, the status of the NCHSAA Endowment, and the Association’s annual budget. The Board took action on many items during its meeting. Highlights are as follows:
