Marvin Ridge Names Hoover Head Football Coach

WAXHAW—Brad Hoover has been named as the new head football coach at Marvin Ridge High School, according to a press release issued by the school.

Tim Conner, principal at Marvin Ridge, announced the hiring.

Hoover comes to Marvin Ridge after serving for a year as head coach at Union Academy, where he led the team to a 6-6 record and a victory in the NCHSAA playoffs.

Hoover is a graduate of Ledford High School, where he led the state in rushing during his years as player. He was named to the All-State team and was a Shrine Bowl participant for the North Carolina team.

He earned a football scholarship to Western Carolina University and finished as the school’s second leading rusher for his career. In 2000, Hoover was signed as a free agent with the Carolina Panthers and had a 10-year career in the National Football League before retiring in 2010.

Hoover resides in Weddington with his wife Brandi and two daughters, Hadlee (8) and Abbi (5).
