On this day in history in the NCHSAA, legendary football coach and educator Lee Stone died at the age of 91. A native of Pennsylvania, the football field at Asheboro High School is named in his honor and he is a member of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame, joining in 1989.
