GREENSBORO – The North Carolina High School Athletic Association Track and Field Championships took place on Friday and Saturday at the Marcus T. Johnson Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T.
Swain County Wins Fifth Straight, Corvian Wins First





In the 1A Women’s meet, the Maroon Devils won their fifth consecutive team championship and sixth overall. They were led by Arizona Blankenship, as she won the 1600 and 3200-Meter Races. It is the third straight year that she has won both events. Annie Lewis also won the 800, was second in the 1600, and third in the 3200.
Corvian Community finished in second place, powered by a podium sweep in the 100-Meter Hurdles. Jayda Lewis took first, Mariana Aske finished second, and Misa Samuel finished in third. Lewis also finished second in the 300-Meter Hurdles.
Wilson Prep’s Rachel Key won the high jump and the Long Jump and took fifth in the 100-Meter Hurdles. She was named the Most Outstanding Performer for her efforts.
In the 1A Men’s meet, Corvian Community was led by Carson Williams, who won the 800-Meter race and the 1600 1600-Meter race. He was also the anchor leg on the 4×800 Relay team that took first place.
Mountain Island Charter and Carver finished in a tie for second. Mountain Island Charter’s Andre Ramseur, Malachi Davis, Justice Washington, and Javon Boyd won the 4×100-Meter Relay. Brady Goodwin and Christopher Unitis tied for second in the Pole Vault for Mountain Island Charter.
For Carver, Derrick Reid Jr., won the 300-Meter Hurdles and the Long Jump, and was a part of the 4×400-Meter Relay team that also took first place.
Nse Uffort from Swain County won the Shot Put and Discus and was named the Most Outstanding Performer.

Cummings Three-peats, Seaforth Breaks Through






In the 2A Women’s Championship, Cummings won its third straight Track and Field Championship and ninth overall, 45 points clear of T.W. Andrews in second place.
They were led by D’Anna Cotton, who was named the Most Outstanding Performer once again. She was the MOP at the Indoor Championships this winter as well as at the 2024 NCHSAA 2A Track and Field Championships. Cotton won the Triple Jump (by nearly two feet), the High Jump, the 300 Meter Hurdles, and took second in the 100 Meter Hurdles.
Cumming’s freshman Kaili Payne won the 100 Meter Hurdles and Diamond Moore won the Long Jump.
T.W. Andrews’ Sanai Johnson, Valeria Gainey, Kemora Turner-Williams, and Mariah Hoy won the 4×200 Meter Relay, and Johnson, Gainey, Hoy, and Jamya Brand won the 4×100 Meter Relay.
NCSSM Durham finished in third place, powered by Catherine Parker’s win in the 1600 Meter and the 4×800 Meter Relay team, including Parker, Caroline Downs, Charlotte Goeble, and Moira Furr, which also took the top spot.
In the 2A Men’s Championship, the Seaforth Hawks earned their first Track and Field Championship, scoring just three more points than Brevard in second place.
Seaforth’s Jack Anstrom defended his championships in both the 1600 and 3200 Meter Races this year, and Will Cuicchi finished second in the 1600 and defended his title in the 800 Meter Race. Sebastian Calderon, Paul Cuicchi, Walter Entrekin, and Will Cuicchi won the 4×400 Meter Relay for the Hawks as well, setting a new meet record in the process.
Brevard’s Vaiden Girolamo, Elijah Griffin, Wilson DeGarmo, and Leo Murry took second in the 4×400, and the 4×100 Meter Relay team of Griffin, Tristan Tompson-Wynn, Connor Fennessy, and Braylon Thompson also earned a second-place finish.
T.W. Andrew’s Ja’Neil Harris, who was the MOP at the Indoor Championships earlier this year, was named MOP again this spring as he won the 100 Meter Dash, 200-Meter Dash, and 400 Meter Dash.

Dudley Panthers Sweep Again






In the 3A Women’s Meet, the Panthers won their third consecutive team championship and ninth overall. They were powered by Jalee Brown, who was named the Most Outstanding Performer for the second year in a row.
She won the 100-Meter Dash with a time of 11.53 and the 200-Meter Dash with a time of 23.32, setting new records in each event. She was also part of the first-place winning 4×200-Meter Relay team.
Dudley’s AaNiyah Massey, Shalei Jordan, Amber Williams, and Z’Niyah Taylor also took first place in the 4×400 Meter Relay.
Northside and North Lincoln finished in a tie for second place. Northside’s Taylor Cooper, Cheyenne Walker, McCaela Claxton, and Kayden Daniels won the 4×100 Meter Relay and took third in the 4×200. Daniels also won the Long Jump.
North Lincoln’s Olivia Ferraro won the 1600-Meter and Bella Green took third, they both also finished in the top four in the 800-Meter.
In the 3A Men’s meet, the Panthers won their second championship in a row and third in the last four years. They were led by Le’Ezra Brown, who was also named the Most Outstanding Performer for the second year in a row.
He won the 100-Meter Hurdles with a time of 10.42 and the 110-Meter Hurdles, breaking his own meet record in the process. He was also part of the first-place winning 4×100 Relay team.
Statesville finished in second place on the team leaderboard. Their relay team of Talyn Stevenson, Nicholas Porter, Chaven Rucker, and Jehahj Sherrill won the 4×200 Relay, and Rucker and Porter teamed up with Malik Pineda and Noah Owens to win the 4×400.
Broughton’s Ashley Bermundez won both the Unified 100 and 200-Meter Dashes. Terry Sanford’s Emmanuel Spruiell, Amari Best, Lorenzo McDaniel, and Cazamir Cooper won the Unified Mixed 4×100-Meter Relay. Full Unified Results are available here.

Cardinal Gibbons, Mallard Creek complete 2025 Indoor-Outdoor Sweep






In the 4A Women’s Championship, Cardinal Gibbons won its first title, edging Mallard Creek by just three points. The Crusaders also won the 2025 Indoor State Championship.
The Crusaders 4×800 Relay team of Maggie Whitham, Addy Mitchell, Kaitlyn Estep, and Hannah Rae Shaffer took first place, and Estep also won the 800, and Shaffer took the top spot in the 3200. Isabella Leonard won the Pole Vault for the Crusaders, and Tessa Kranick finished in third.
Mallard Creek earned second-place finishes in the 4×100, 4×200, and 4×400 Meter Relays.
Grimsley’s Makenna Barnett won the 300 Meter Hurdles, finished second in the 100 Meter Hurdles, and took fourth in the 100 Meter Dash to earn the Most Outstanding Performer Award for the Championship.
In the 4A Men’s Championship, Mallard Creek repeated as 4A Track and Field Champions and won its third title overall after posting 71 points, 31 points in front of Runner-Up Cuthbertson. The Mavericks also won the 2025 Indoor State Championship.
The Mavericks dominated in the relays as the team of Mason Kelly, Jeremiah Person, Justin Watts, and Khalil Price won the 4×400-Meter Relay, and Kelly, Watts, Price, and Nassor Ashenafi won the 4×200-Meter Relay. Curtis Clark, Kelly, Samaritin Page, and Ashenafi won the 4×100 Meter Relay, just .33 seconds off the meet record.
Cuthbertson’s Tommy Pringle II won the High Jump, and Colby McCollum won the 1600-Meter Race, helping their team to a runner-up finish. The relay team of Brenden Robbins, Bryce Gatlin, Dax Chapman, and Amari Barrow finished second behind Mallard Creek in the 4×400 Meter Relay.
Garner’s Dominic Harper won the 200 Meter Dash and 400 Meter Dash on his way to winning the Most Outstanding Performer Award for the Championship.
