BURLINGTON, NC – The North Carolina High School Athletic Association conducted the 2023 Women’s Dual Team Tennis Championships on Saturday at the Burlington Tennis Center. Mount Airy, Hendersonville, Lake Norman Charter and Myers Park added brand-new trophies to their collections. Full recaps and scores are below.
The Hendersonville Bearcats won their fifth consecutive NCHSAA 2A Dual Team Tennis Championship with a 5-2 win over Research Triangle in a rematch of the 2021 title match.
The current NCHSAA 2A Individual Doubles Champions Eliza Perry and Ramsey Ross scored the deciding point as they won their doubles match with Olivia Hankinson and Natalia Stephens to give Hendersonville the 5-2 win.
Perry, who was named MVP, lost 6-3, 6-3 in her singles match to the current NCHSAA 2A Individual Singles Champion Olivia Hankinson. Ross also lost her singles match to Research Triangle’s Victoria Zhou but those were the only points that the Raptors scored in the match.
Raleigh Pritchard (6-3, 7-5), Reese Redden (6-3, 6-4), Anna Macdowell (6-0, 4-6 [10-4]) and Sophia Gallian (6-0, 6-0) each won their singles matches to set up the dynamic doubles duo to clinch the match.
It was the first loss of the year for Research Triangle as they finished the year 17-1, the Bearcats wrapped up 2023 18-0.

The Lake Norman Charter Knights won an epic battle with the Terry Sanford Bulldogs 5-4 to win the school’s first NCHSAA 3A Women’s Dual Team Tennis Championship and fourth overall.
Thanks to a valiant effort in the No. 6 singles spot from Kate Champion, who won her match with Lauren Ruppe 4-6, 7-6 [7-2][10-3], the championship match was tied 3-3 after the singles portion.
In the doubles portion of the match, Terry Sanford’s #1 doubles team, the reigning NCHSAA 3A Doubles Champions, won a rematch of the semifinals last week in the individual championships with Anslee Falls and Eleina Moon, to take the lead. But Luci Falls and Moriah Harris won their doubles match 10-7 to put all the pressure on the final doubles match.
Champion again answered the bell, with teammate Aileen Huynh, they won in a tiebreak 11-10 [7-3].
Falls, who also won her singles match 6-3, 6-4, was named MVP. The Knights finished the season 24-0 while the Bulldogs ended up 18-1.

Myers Park earned its third NCHSAA 4A Women’s Dual Team Tennis Championship on Saturday with a 5-4 win against New Hanover.
Teagan Reilly, who was named MVP, won her singles match 6-4, 6-2 to set the tone and teammates Anne Mason Moor (7-5, 6-2), Agnes Shinn (6-3, 6-4) and Finley Holzman (7-5, 2-6 [10-8] followed suit to give the Mustangs a 4-2 lead going into the doubles portion of the contest.
Moore and Shinn teamed up to win their doubles match 8-5 to seal the win.
For New Hanover, Ellie Harmon and Caroline Morrison won their singles matches and the doubles teams of Sophia Catino/Hanna Davis and Harmon/Elizabeth Sifly picked up wins as well.
Myers Park finished the season 21-0 while New Hanover ended up 25-1.
