2021-2022 Wells Fargo Conference Cup Champions

CHAPEL HILL- The NCHSAA is proud to partner with Wells Fargo and release this year’s standing for the Wells Fargo Conference Cup Competition. High School athletics across the state allow student-athletes to grow, compete and learn new skills as well as valuable characteristics such as sportsmanship and discipline all through playing sports in an education-based environment. The Wells Fargo Conference Cup is a chance to recognize what schools excelled the most in athletics in each of their respective conferences. 

The Wells Fargo Conference Cup is based on the regular season performance for each high school athletic program and the point system is determined by the respective conference. The Wells Fargo Conference Cup is a companion to the Wells Fargo State Cup where the winner is determined per classification and points are allotted based on postseason play.

Below are the final standings for the 2021-2022 Wells Fargo Conference Cup Competition.

1A Conference Standings

Atlantic 5 1A – Bear Grass Charter came out on top this year with 285 points in their conference. The Bears achieved conference championships this year in men’s soccer, men’s basketball, baseball and softball. Second place was a tie this year with both Cape Hatteras and Ocracoke finishing out the year with 215 points.

Carolina 1A – Rosewood finished out the season strong and won the conference cup with 725 points. The Eagles saw conference championships in a plethora of sports including men’s soccer, football, men’s indoor track & field, men’s golf and men’s and women’s track & field. The Lakewood Leopards achieved second place this year with a total of 507.5 points.

Central Tar Heel 1A – Chatham Charter achieved conference victories this season and won their conference cup with an impressive 465 points. They found outright conference championships in men’s cross country, women’s tennis and men’s basketball and saw shared championships in volleyball and women’s basketball. River Mill saw second place this year with 357.5 points.

Four Rivers 1A – Riverside-Martin won this year’s conference cup with 505 points. Perquimans ended up finishing in second with 452.5 points.

Northwest 1A – Mount Airy finished atop the conference cup standings this year with 795 points. The Granite Bears found outright conference titles in football, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s soccer, women’s basketball, women’s indoor track & field, wrestling and shared a conference title in women’s soccer. Elkin achieved second place with 720 points.

Catawba Shores Athletic 1A/2A – Community School of Davidson took home the conference cup this season with 865 points, beating second place Lincoln Charter who finished with 775 points. The Spartans found themselves finishing in first in the conference in men’s swimming & diving, women’s soccer and sharing a conference title in women’s indoor track & field with Mountain Island Charter.

The Hornets achieved outright conference titles this year in football, women’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s soccer, women’s basketball, women’s swimming & diving, men’s track & field and shared a title in men’s basketball with Thomasville.

The Golden Lions achieved outright conference titles this year in football, women’s tennis, men’s soccer, women’s basketball and men’s golf and shared the men’s basketball title with Bessemer City.
