The North Carolina High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame is dedicated to preserving the colorful tradition of high school athletics in North Carolina.
The Hall of Fame seeks to highlight the past in order to insure a promising future for the NCHSAA. Candidates are judged on their long-term contributions to high schools athletics in the state of North Carolina, governed by the NCHSAA or other organizations which are a part of the Association, such as the North Carolina High School Athletic Conference or the Western North Carolina High School Activities Association.
Hall of Fame nomination forms outling the nomination procedure are available from the NCHSAA. Contact Quanta` Holden at 919-962-7784 (nchsaaspecialprograms@unc.edu) or download an application (Hall of Fame Nomination pdf). A statewide selection committee meets annually to review candidates and recommend them for induction.
The Hall of Fame plaques are on permanent display in the NCHSAA's Hall of Fame room, located in the Simon F. Terrell Building in Chapel Hill. GlaxoSmithKline has provided a gift of $100,000 to provide an endowment for the Hall so that the recognition, awards ceremonies and other activities for the Hall may be provided at the highest possible level.
The 2007 North Carolina High School Hall of Fame Banquet will be held Saturday, April 14, 2007 at the George Watts Hill Alumni Center on UNC's campus in Chapel Hill, NC. There will be a reception beginning at 6pm and dinner will follow at 7pm. Tickets are on sale now and are $50 per person.
