Rhonda oversees the day-to-day and championship operations for cross-country, volleyball, indoor track and field, men’s and women’s basketball, softball, and outdoor track and field, as well as compliance and eligibility questions for all member schools. 

Rhonda joined the NCHSAA staff in April 2022, having over 25 years of experience in education-based athletics as a coach, athletic director, school administrator, and assistant executive director for the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA). She has experience overseeing championships, eligibility, coaches’ education, Title IX compliance, and state all-star games.  She most recently served as a teacher and athletic director at Jordan High School. 

Dreibelbis earned her B.S. degree from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette and her M.Ed. from McNeese State University.  She received her Certification in Administration from the University of Phoenix and holds a Certification in Human Resources from Cornell University. 

She is a Certified Master Athletic Administrator through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association and a Level 3 Coach through the National Federation of State High School Associations.  Rhonda has represented NFHS Section III on the NFHS Coach of the Year and the NFHS softball committees. 

In high school, Rhonda was a 5-year starter in basketball, helping lead her team to a state title her freshman year.  She continued her playing career at McNeese State University and what is now the University of Louisiana–Lafayette.  She was a 4-year starter and set numerous school and conference records in three-point shooting during her collegiate career.  

Rhonda coached girls’ basketball for 16 years, garnered Coach of the Year honors numerous times, and was named the Louisiana 5A state coach of the year. She was the first female to serve as the President of the high school basketball coaches association and was the first female hired to serve in a director’s role with the state high school athletic association.  She was inducted into the Louisiana High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Louisiana High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2015. She was the recipient of the LHSAA Distinguished Service Award in 2015.

She and her husband, Mark, reside in Cary and are the proud dog parents of their chocolate lab, Balee.
