POTW Week 17 Winners

Each week an athlete in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association is selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media, and school administrators for their outstanding performance.

The OrthroCarolina Performer of the Week for week fourteen of NCHSAA competition goes to Abby Carpenter of Franklin High School and Jarin Stevenson of Seaforth High School.

Abby Carpenter truly demonstrates work ethic, grit, and perseverance as she spent most of her winter break in the gym refining her skills on her own time. Carpenter’s hard work paid off as she went 4-0 this past week and secured 1st place in the Lady Bearcat Invitational. On the season Carpenter is 20-0 and looks to continue the win streak into regionals and states.

Stevenson a Junior on the Seaforth Basketball team led the Hawks to a 2-win week going 2-0 against Chatham Central and Jordan Matthews.  In those 2 games, Stevenson went 16-21 scoring 45 total points. Scoring isn’t the only thing Stevenson does as he added 21 rebounds, 8 assist, 2 steals and 7 blocks. Stevenson is the number 10 ranked player in the class of 2024. Stevenson like many of our Student Athletes excels on and off the court, off the court Stevenson holds a 4.5 GPA, is a member of the Unified Club and spends time donating goods for Cora.

Congratulations to Abby Carpenter of Franklin High School and Jarin Stevenson of Seaforth High School on an outstanding performance last week!!
