4A Women’s Golf Championship | Rudisill fires five-under round to put Myers Park atop the leaderboard overnight
PINEHURST, NC – On a picturesque day in the Home of Golf, Pinehurst No. 6 proved to be little trouble for Myers Park’s Elizabeth Rudisill. She carded a 5-under, 67 on her way to a four shot lead in the individual tournament and lifting her team to a four-shot advantage over second-place Pinecrest in the team competition.
Rudisill’s 67 made her just the fifth player in the history of the NCHSAA Women’s Golf State Tournament to card a 67 or better in a single round. She joined Reagan’s Morgan Ketchum and Cardinal Gibbons’ Ellie Hildreth as one of three players to fire a 67 or lower in a single round at the State Championship in the last two years.
Rudisill started on the back nine of the famed Pinehurst No. 6 layout and rolled to a 3-under opening nine before tacking on another birdie on the par 5 second hole to get to 4-under. She did give one shot back on the par 4 fourth, carding her lone bogey of the day before rebounding with a pair of birdies to close out her round on the eighth and ninth holes.

Marvin Ridge’s Alicia Fang was the lone other player to post a red number on day one, carding a 1-under 71 with a two-shot advantage on Jordan’s Emerson B.
