Each week two athletes in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association are selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media, and school administrators for their outstanding performance.
The OrthroCarolina Performers of the Week for week six of NCHSAA competition go to Jamiel Davis from Heide Trask High School and Erika Bailey from Manteo High School.
Davis a Senior of the Heide Trask football team tied a state record Friday night when he recorded 5 interceptions in 1 game. The Heide Trask football team held East Columbus to only 8 points that night.
Bailey a Senior on the Manteo volleyball team had an outstanding week, which helped Manteo go 2-0 during competition. Bailey totaled these numbers during the week: was 12 for 19 with just 1 error from the attacking line, 27 kills (only 3 errors), 12 digs, 1 assist. Manteo won both matches 3-0 as they improved to 12-2 on the season.
