CHAPEL HILL— Macy Pate from Reagan High School and Donovan Shepard from Cardinal Gibbons High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators.
Pate, a Sophomore on the Reagan Golf team, broke the 18-hole NCHSAA non-state tournament scoring record by firing an 18-hole 57 last week. Her play helped Reagan capture the 4A State Championship earlier this week.
Shepard, a Senior on the Cardinal Gibbons Football team, broke the NCHSAA single game rushing record Friday night. Shepard rushed for 539 yards on 19 carries and had 6 touchdowns in a 56-14 win over Athens Drive.
Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
