Top Seeds Advance In NCHSAA Men’s 2-A Tennis

CARY— The top seeds in both singles and doubles advanced with little trouble on Friday in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association men’s 2-A tennis championship at the Cary Tennis Center.

The top-seeded singles player, Will Rollinson of Raleigh Cardinal Gibbons, and the number-one doubles duo from Cardinal Gibbons of Clark Howell and Evan Goff each won both of their matches in straight sets to move into the Saturday morning semifinals.

A battle of unbeatens looms in one singles semifinal as Rollinson (17-0) will face William Gray (27-0) of Kill Devil Hills First Flight, who lost only seven games in four sets on Friday. The other semifinal will send Ryan Daly of Cardinal Gibbons against Britton Webb of Orange.

All of the Cardinal Gibbons entries, two in singles and two in doubles, moved into the semifinals. Howell and Goff will face the third-seeded pair of Alex Boehling and Collins Small from Edenton Holmes. The other Gibbons doubles team of Jeff Fadool and Jon Fedorkowicz will tackle the tournament’s number-two seed, Zach Henson and Steve Harenburg of Brevard.

Semifinals will start at nine o’clock Saturday morning with the championship matches to be played early Saturday afternoon.

Wendy’s and the Carolinas Ford Dealers are the presenting sponsors for the NCHSAA sports program.
