BURLINGTON—George Robinson Jr. has been named as the new district athletic director for the Alamance-Burlington schools, according to the Burlington Times-News.
Robinson replaces Ericia Turner, who had resigned to take a position in education elsewhere in the state.
Robinson, a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University, has master’s degrees from both North Carolina Central University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is a graduate of Williams High in Burlington.
He began his coaching career at Cummings and served as head men’s basketball coach there from 1995 to 2011, leading the Cavaliers to NCHSAA state championships in 2001, ’02, ’04,’06 and ’07 in two different classifications. He has been an assistant principal at Cummings since 2011.
