A total of 363 high school teams (138 boys, 225 girls) throughout the United States have earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCA)Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2011-12 academic year. That includes a number of soccer programs in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.
To qualify for the award, the high school team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player’s GPA, then dividing by the number of players, including weighted grades.
