WINSTON-SALEM—A well-known wrestling coach is leaving one Winston-Salem/Forsyth County high school for another.
Maurice Atwood, who has had unprecedented success in wrestling at Parkland High School, is taking over as the wrestling coach at West Forsyth, according to The Winston-Salem Journal.
Atwood replaces Mike Bryant, who resigned at West Forsyth after 13 seasons at the help.
Atwood, age 45, has been at Parkland for 10 years and has an amazing dual match record of 435-11. He has guided his team to eight consecutive North Carolina High School Athletic Association dual team championships and Parkland reportedly is riding a 345-match winning streak in dual matches.
Parkland has also taken the team title in seven of the last eight NCHSAA individual tournament championships.
