CHAPEL HILL— Grace Holcomb from Laney High School and Isaac Turner from Heide Trask High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators.
Holcomb, a Senior on the Laney Golf team, led the Buccaneers to their 6th straight Conference Championship on Wednesday. Holcomb recorded 8 birdies on her way to a personal best 65. Her 65 is the lowest score ever recorded at a Mideastern Women’s Golf Conference Tournament Match.
Turner, a Sophomore on the Heide Trask Baseball team, took the first pitch he saw of the season yard for a home run. He added a second home run later in the game, finishing 2-2 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI’s in the Titans’ season-opening win.
