CARY—Green Hope High School has announced the inaugural class of its new sports hall of fame, according to a report in The Raleigh News and Observer.
The inaugural class includes Hector Cotto (class of 2002), Chris Brady Wolfe (2003), Brendon Todd (2003) and Don D’Ambrosi (volunteer).
Cotto was a record-setting track athlete at Green Hope who competed in both the 2008 and the 2012 Olympics as a member of the Puerto Rican national team.
Wolfe, who was Chris Brady in high school, was the school’s first female individual state champion. Brady captured top honors in the 2000 North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 4-A women’s golf championship at Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill. She shot 74-69 for a 143 total en route to the title and went on to play on the LPGA tour for a few years.
Todd was a tremendous men’s golfer during his high school career, winning three NCHSAA individual 4-A titles. His championships came in 200 at Finley Golf Course and then in 2002 and ’03 at Pinehurst. She helped lead Green Hope to the 2003 team state championship, its first in that sport.
Todd now plays on the PGA Tour.
D’Ambrosi was the school’s volunteer public address announcer for every home football and boys and girls basketball game for more than 10 years before retireing in 2013.
This year’s class will be recognized at halftime of a home football game this fall.
