Another Softball Star Breaks Career Homer Mark

PIKEVILLE—Sometimes attention to a record in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Record Book helps to find others who may be in contention for it.

Last week it was reported that Madison senior infielder/pitcher Michaela Drewnoski broke the career record for home runs in softball, hitting two in a game for the 40th and 41st of her career.

Charles B. Aycock softball standout Meredith Burroughs is right there as well. The Wilson Daily Times has reported that Burroughs hit two in a game last week that also were the 40th and 41st of her career.

Burroughs owns part of the single-season record, too, as she belted 19 homers during her sophomore campaign. The NCHSAA has received confirmation on her totals as well.

We hope that both Madison and C.B. Aycock will continue to track these achievements so that we can make sure both student-athletes are listed in the record book at the end of the season.
