CHARLOTTE—Mo Collins, a former star player at West Charlotte High School, has been named as the new head football coach at his alma mater, according to the Charlotte Observer.
The 37-year-old Collins was an assistant on the West Charlotte staff and takes over the duties from Marcus Surratt, whose team was 0-11 in 2013.
After a brilliant career as an offensive lineman at West Charlotte under coach Tommy Knotts, Collins went on to Florida, where he played on a national champiosnhip team. He then spent six seasons with the Oakland Raiders in the NFL.
