Jay Robinson Names Lamar Batts Sr. As Men’s Basketball Coach

CONCORD—Jay Robinson High School has named Lamar Batts, Sr., as its new head basketball coach, according to various media reports including the Concord-Kannapolis Independent Tribune.

Batts will replace former head coach Joe Pike and is only the second men’s basketball coach in the school’s 13-year history. He is a 2001 Barber-Scotia College graduate and has coached the Jay Robinson junior varsity program as well as serving as an assistant men’s coach for the past three years.

The new coach will have a familiar face on the roster, as one of the returning players on the Jay Robinson squad is the coach’s son, Lavar Batts, Jr.
