FORMER STATE CHAMPION HOLDS REUINION

GASTONIA—Members of a former North Carolina High School Athletic Association state baseball championship team recently enjoyed a reunion 45 years after their outstanding accomplishment.

Lowell Holbrook High School won the NCHSAA state 2-A baseball crown in 1968, and a number of members of that squad recently enjoyed a luncheon in Gaston County.  The team posted a 16-2 record and was coached by Don Ratchford.

Members of the team will serve as grand marshals for the annual Christmas parade in the town of Lowell.

Ashley High and Holbrook High wound up being merged into what is now known as Ashbrook High School in Gastonia.
