EAST-WEST FOOTBALL GAME WILL BE BACK IN GREENSBORO
GREENSBORO—The East-West All-Star football game will be returning to Jamieson Stadium in 2014, according to a press release from the North Carolina Coaches Association.
The game was moved to A.J. Simeon Stadium in High Point for the 2013 game this summer due to reconstruction on the parking lots at Grimsley High School.
“After consultation with the association Board of Directors, I determined that playing in the stadium named for the founder of the NCCA was important,” said Phil Weaver, director of the all-star game. “Other significant factors were the proximity of Jamieson Stadium to our clinic at the Greensboro Coliseum, the renovation of Jamieson Stadium and its parking facilities, and the location of the NCCA’s office adjacent to the stadium.”
The 2013 game at Simeon Stadium was won by the West all-stars by a score of 14-7, the only time that the game has not been played in Jamieson Stadium. The first East-West football game was contested in 1949.
