Changes Announced For West Davidson

LEXINGTON—West Davidson High School has announced several changes in athletic staff, according to a press release from the school.

Dale Barnes will replace Charles Elmore as athletic director effective as of July 1. Elmore is retiring after 30 years of service to West Davidson , inlcuding 14 years as athletic director.

Barnes has been at West Davidson since the spring of 1990. During his tenure he has been the head football coach for the past seven seasons, posting a record of 41-41. He will serve as an assistant coach in the North Carolina Coaches Association East-West football all star game this summer. His 2007 and 2008 teams were conference co-champions.

He will step down as head football coach to assume the position as athletic director. In addition, Barnes served as the head baseball coach for 13 seasons, head wrestling coach for four years, head boys track coach for three seasons. He also has been the assistant athletic director for the past 14 years.

Jerry Walser, the current head baseball coach at West Davidson,  will assume the position of assistant athletic director.

Chris Brown as resigned his position as the head men’s soccer coach. Coach Brown has been the boys soccer coach for the past 13 seasons, posting a record of 120-132-14 (the past 7 seasons record of 106-39 -10). He was named CCC coach of the year 3 times, 2011, 2007, 2006 .He will continue to coach the women’s soccer program.

David Klinloski as resigned his position as the head coach of the women’s varsity basketball program, which he has guided for the last 14 years. He will remain has the schools golf coach, a position he has held since 2000.
