Carolina Panthers Provide Leadership Opportunity

CHARLOTTE–The Carolina Panthers are excited about presenting to NCHSAA members schools the opportunity for student-athletes to participate in the HSPD Leadership Program presented by the National Guard and hosted by the Panthers.

The HSPD Leadership Program is a one-day event comprised of activities in three different areas – the classroom, the community, and the leadership competitions.  The classroom portion will be led by the NFL’s Player Engagement Department and will consist of intensive character development and life skills training.  Participants will also have the opportunity to give back to the community by volunteering.  The leadership competitions will consist of a series of hands-on exciting activities led by the North Carolina Army National Guard and South Carolina Army National Guard.

The program will be a full day beginning with registration around 9 am and closing around 4 pm.  Bank of America Stadium will serve as the location for the event and lunch will be provided for participants.  All participants must be referred by a local high school football coach or school administrator.  The NFL will review referrals and send formal invitations to participants selected to attend.  Invited participants must RSVP in order to reserve their spot for the program as space is limited to the first 60 participants.  Along with the invaluable experience, all participants will receive a 2014 HSPD Planner and Leadership Program t-shirt.

Schools have received criteria for participation and referral forms. Feel free to direct any questions to Peter Vacho at 704-358-7436 or Peter.Vacho@Panthers.NFL.com. You can also email the NFL directly at leadership@nfl.com.

All referrals must be received no later than Friday, May 23th, 2014.  Selected participants will receive formal invitations shortly after referrals are reviewed.
