Tra is the Assistant Commissioner of Sports, Championships, and Eligibility for the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.  In his 18th year at the NCHSAA, Tra has been associated with numerous positions throughout his tenure.  He started working at the NCHSAA in August of 2005 as an Intern in the Development Department.  In January of 2006, he was hired full-time as the Office Assistant/Receptionist.  In April of 2006, he began working as the Officiating Administrator with the Supervisor of Officials.  In July of 2009, he moved over to the Sports Department as the Assistant Director of Sports.  In July of 2014, Tra took over responsibilities as the Director of Sports and Championships for Football, Lacrosse, Men's Basketball, Tennis, & Wrestling. In August of 2016, he was named Assistant Commissioner of Sports and Championships, which provides oversight for the entire sports program.

Originally from Lincolnton, NC, Tra graduated as Valedictorian of 2001 at Lincolnton High School.  Tra was a 3 sport athlete at Lincolnton, where he participated in Football, Wrestling, and Track & Field.  Among his accolades, Tra received the 2001 Richard Smith Scholar-Athlete of the Year award from Lincolnton High School and was the 2000-01 Lincoln Times-News Scholar-Athlete of the Year as well.  

Tra attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a full academic scholarship and was a Johnston Scholar.  He graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a minor in Exercise and Sports Science.  While in school, Tra was a tighthead prop and a lock for the UNC Varsity Rugby Team.  In 2010, Tra earned his Master's Degree in Health Education and Promotion from East Carolina University.

He is a Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA) through the NIAAA and a Certified Interscholastic Coach (CIC) through the NFHS.  He is the current Chair of the NFHS Boy's Lacrosse Rules Committee and has served as the Section III representative on the NFHS Wrestling Rules Committee.

Tra and his family currently reside in Alamance County.
