Tarboro High School Inducts Inaugural Class into its Hall of Fame

         TARBORO—Tarboro High School recently inducted its inaugural class of 15 into the Tarboro Hall of Fame.

         Inductees came from Tarboro High as well as Patillo High, a pre-integration school and member of the old North Carolina High School Athletic Conference.

         The ceremonies were held in the Tarboro High School gymnasium.

         Inductees included former football coaches Doug Alexander and Jim Brett, former major league pitcher Mike Caldwell, wrestler Michael Stokes, men’s basketball standout Jontae Sherrod, female basketball player Marquetta Dickens, former UNC and NFL player Kelvin Bryant, football star Donald Franks, who played in the NFL for six years; track standout Wanda Phillips, three-sport star Gus Andrews; the late Carter Ray Suggs, who starred in track; Milton Steele “Coca-Cola” Brown, long-time community leader and Tarboro supporter; former Patillo football captain Artis Bryant; women’s basketball and volleyball standout Casey Collins; and the 1970 Tarboro football team, the first with the consolidated school.
