Each week, two athletes in an NCHSAA competition are selected as the recipients of the Performance of the Week award, sponsored by Ortho Carolina. Whether you walk, run, or ride, Ortho Carolina will keep you healthy why you do it.
This week the NCHSAA recognizes Jett Benson from Tuscola, a junior on the men’s basketball team. Jett, a 3 sport athlete, had an impressive performance on February 5, 2022. He led the team with a career high 42 points, seven three pointers and was 16-16 from the free throw line and 7 rebounds and 2 steals.
We also recognize Jerni Kiaku from Garner High School, a senior on the Women’s basketball team. In two victories during the week, Jerni scored a combined 71 points and had 4 deflections, 6 steals, 8 assists, 4 rebounds with just 1 turnover. On Senior night (2/1/22) Jerni scored her 2000th career point in her 4-year varsity career at Garner Magnet High School. She also had 41 points in that game. Her current career point total is 2039 points.
