CHAPEL HILL— Hali Scott from East Surry High School and Deandre Proctor from Northeastern High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators.
Scott, a senior on the East Surry Softball team, struck out 19 batters while only allowing 2 hits. Hali hit a grand slam in the fifth inning, which proved to be the difference-maker as the Cardinals defeated the Greyhounds 5-2.
Proctor, a Senior on the Northeastern Football team, accounted for 435 all-purpose yards and 6 touchdowns on Friday night. The senior quarterback threw four touchdowns to four different receivers, completing 15 of 27 passes for 230 yards. He also added 205 yards and two touchdowns on the ground as Northeastern took down First Flight.
Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m; through the online form that can be found here.
