CHAPEL HILL— Carmen Alder from Pinecrest High School and Isaiah Tate from Kings Mountain High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators.
Alder, a Senior on the Pinecrest Cross-Country team, won her third straight 4A Individual Cross Country State Championship on Friday, the sixth to ever win three Women’s State titles in a row. Her time of 17:43.30 was the fastest time among females across all four classifications.
Tate, a Junior on the Kings Mountain Basketball team, tied a school record by knocking down eight 3-pointers on Thursday night. The Junior guard finished the game with 35 points and 10 assists as the Mountaineers defeated Burns 89-64.
Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
