Former NCHSAA Board Member, Dr. Dwayne Stallings, passes away

Former Superintendent in Perquimans County, long-time educator and former NCHSAA Board of Directors member, Dr. Dwayne Stallings passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at the age of 63 years old. 

Dr. Stallings was born in Pasquotank County in 1956 eventually graduating from College of the Albemarle, Elizabeth City State University and East Carolina University. He began his career in education as a teacher climbing to roles as an assistant principal, assistant superintendent and eventually superintendent of Perquimans County. He taught or worked in several systems in northeast North Carolina over the course of his career, including Chowan, Gates, and Pasquotank. 

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Perquimans County High School Gymnasium and will be conducted by the Rev. Darryl Stallings. A private burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Elizabeth City.
