STUDENTS FROM WESTERN ALAMANCE & GREENE CENTRAL EARN PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK AWARDS

CHAPEL HILL— Lexi Sox from Western Alamance High School and Imajae Dodd from Greene Central High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators. 

Sox, a senior from the Western Alamance softball team, went 3 for 4 against McMichael, homering in three consecutive at-bats on Tuesday. She hit a pair of two-run homers followed by a solo blast in the sixth inning, collecting five RBI’s and four of the team’s runs. Then on Thursday, she went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles with an RBI as Western Alamance downed Rockingham County. 

Dodd, a senior on the Ram’s men’s basketball team, helped his team to a third-straight Regional Finals Appearance, scoring 26 points with 9 rebounds and 7 blocks as Greene Central knocked out Hertford in the fourth round. Then Dodd scored 23 points with 11 rebounds and 7 blocks as the Rams came up short of Farmville Central in the Regional Final. 

Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. They will also be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year in April. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
